Deborah Miller

PRINCIPAL

Deborah is known as a trustworthy advocate who has mastered the legislative process, the rules under which both houses of the Alabama Legislature operate, and the personalities who control the flow of legislation.  She has established a proven record of bringing to a successful conclusion countless issues on behalf of clients in the legislative, procurement, and regulatory arenas.  Notably, The Prompt Pay Act for Subcontractors is cited in the Code of Alabama as the “Deborah Kay Miller Act” in recognition by the Alabama Legislature of her tireless work in construction law for the state of Alabama.  

A native of Anniston, Deborah graduated from Jacksonville State University. She has a long political history, starting with her election as the first female Student Government President  at JSU and Director of the Student Conference on American Government. She has worked on numerous political campaigns across Alabama at all levels.  Deborah graduated magna cum laude from Jones School of Law, where she has been a guest lecturer on the political process and lobbying.   She is a member of the Montgomery Bar Association and the Alabama State Bar, and she is active in the Administrative Law, Health Law, and Women’s Sections.  She was recently honored as “Alumna of the Year” for JSU in 2023.

 

 

Jeff Miller

Principal

Jeff brings extensive business and political experience to the firm.  He is a graduate of the University of Alabama with a B.S. in Corporate Finance.  He successfully served as CEO for seventeen years for Anniston Steel and Plumbing with divisions including Miller’s Office Furniture, Miller’s Supply, Miller’s Designer Showroom, and Surplus World of Alabama. 

After selling a major portion of the business, Jeff moved to Montgomery and served the Governor in economic development as head of Existing Business and Industry Services for the State of Alabama. In this position, he amassed a keen insight into the workings of state government in the areas of procurement and economic development.  Jeff has successfully navigated clients through complex regulatory and procurement challenges and has also provided necessary insight into job creation, incentives, and other state programs. He also specializes in issue management including identifying allied trade groups and strategic partners.
